Study on the Economic Security and Upward Mobility of UK Hongkongers
This study delves into the economic security of Hong Kong immigrants in the UK, focusing on both their present and anticipated financial stability, as well as their experiences and challenges in the UK job market. Beyond their personal economic outlook, the research also explores hopes and concerns for the next generation—specifically, whether immigrant parents believe their children are receiving an education on par with their peers and feel optimistic about their children’s future prospects in the UK workforce.
This report and its findings aim to advise the UK, regional and local governments, and other non-governmental organisations on devising more inclusive policies.
In September 2024, HKB launched Initiative COMPREHEND, a project aimed at enhancing mutual understanding between UK, regional and local governments, and the UK’s Hongkonger community. The initiative seeks to improve policymakers’ awareness of the experiences, needs, and perspectives of UK Hongkongers, while also helping Hongkongers better understand UK policies relevant to their lives.
